Bread Basket Café and Bakery

Two blocks east of the square

Freshly-Made. Family-Owned. Where local ingredients, from-scratch baking, and heartfelt service meet.

We believe in responsible stewardship of our resources. That’s why we buy local produce, eggs, coffee, tea, and goods whenever possible. We reduce our waste by more than half by recycling. We compost our scraps for our kitchen garden.

Though still small, we strive to have a positive impact on this very special community we call home. And we’re grateful to get to do so alongside such truly wonderful staff and customers!

Court House Grounds

East side of the square

Messers Franklin and Jones opened Court House Grounds on Christmas Eve 1998. Over the years we have re-invented, updated, and over hauled our business many times, looking for the best ways to improve ourselves, our shop and to better serve our customers.

Check out our second floor shops

Our beautiful building on South Washington Street enhances any restaurant/shop that it houses, it was built in 1882 by a Civil War veteran James Beck. We are proud of the over 20 years worth of stories that our business has contributed to Danville and to the Hendricks County community, and we’d love to have you as a part of our story.

Danville Dips

Southeast corner of the square

Our R&D staff spent numerous hours, traveled thousands of miles, and ate countless cups of ice cream. Their decision is that Hershey’s Hard Pack Ice Cream provides the best overall taste and quality. We carry 24 flavors, some year round, and some change seasonally. You can have it in a cup or cone, or mix it into a milkshake.

We have soft serve ice cream and have the only Flavor Burst attachment in Hendricks County! Eight different flavors are available to add to your soft serve experience.

We are located in the old Baker Hardware building. We have restored the old brick walls and wood floor in the building. Our goal is to create a community gathering place in a modern setting with a historic feel. Our furniture is made by Danville businesses and we are decorating with pictures of friends and family enjoying ice cream.

We took advantage of the large plate glass windows by adding bar seating. So you can enjoy your ice cream while watching the comings and goings on the square.

Their menu and customer base has remained constant over the past 20 years and they strive to accommodate special tastes and requests. Frank’s has plenty of seating in its beautiful restaurant. Reservations are welcome and recommended on weekends, particularly for larger parties. Customers often have a beverage in Frank’s Bar while their orders are being readied.
