Artists Paint the Town

Join us for a vibrant celebration of art, community, and creativity at the 8th Annual Plein Air Paint the Town event, hosted by the Downtown Danville Partnership and the Gallery on the Square. This beloved tradition brings artists and spectators alike to the heart of Danville to enjoy its charm, character, and scenery through the timeless art of plein air painting.

What is Plein Air?
Plein air—a French term meaning “in the open air”—refers to the practice of painting rural or urban landscapes outdoors.

Whether you’re an artist or an admirer, there’s something for everyone. Spectators are encouraged to stroll through downtown, observe artists at work, and watch as blank canvases transform into stunning interpretations of Danville’s outdoor beauty.

Family Fun Art Day activities begin at 1 p.m. and are open to the public, providing an opportunity for all ages to get creative and have fun.

The day concludes with an afternoon awards presentation at 4 p.m. on the east side of Courthouse lawn, recognizing outstanding work across multiple age and skill levels. Come be inspired and support your local creative community.

Artist registration is now open and continues through event day. Categories include: Youth (12 & under), Teen, Non-Professional, and Professional.
