Schedule of Events:
Friday, September 3 at 8:30 pm
After First Friday Cruise-in, kick off the weekend with Rik Roberts at The Royal Theater for a comedy show to benefit theDanville Fire Department. Rik plays Barney Fife in Mayberry Man, and has been delighting crowds with his humor for decades. Show starts at 8:30 pm. Pay what you wish at the door. All proceeds will be used to purchase a LifePak Defibrillator for DFD.
Saturday, September 4 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm
It’s the last Farmer’s Market of the season! Shop from 8:00 am until 12:00. Then pop in at the Gallery on the Square for a book signing with Gary Varvel from 1:00 – 3:30 pm. Stay for the Mayberry Car Show until 5:00 pm, and enjoy live music and watch the stars arrive in classic automobiles and Mayberry squad cars for the red carpet event at The Royal Theater at 7:00 pm.
Sunday, September 5 beginning at 11:00 am
Enjoy a Labor Day Picnic on the square beginning at 11:00 am. Bring a blanket or chair and join us for a picnic lunch, then stay for all of the fun activities in the afternoon. Bring your own picnic or carry out from one of local restaurants.
- Free face painting from 12:00 – 2:00 pm.
- Ice Cream Social at Danville Dips from 1:00 – 4:00 pm when you can snag a free scoop of ice cream.
- Apple Pie Bake-off judging will be at 2:00 pm. Sign up to enter below.
- Watermelon eating contest is at 3:00 pm. Sign up to enter below.
Also, be sure to catch a free screening of Mayberry Man at The Royal at 2:00 pm! This will be first come, first seated. No tickets required. If the 2:00 pm showing fills up, there will be another at 4:00 pm.
With live music, sack races, hula hoop contests, and fun prizes, there will be something for everyone!
Apple Pie Bake-off
Are you an apple pie aficionado? Sign up to enter the Labor Day Apple Pie Bake-off! Sunday, September 5. Drop off is at Court House Grounds between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
The fine print:
- Apple pies only, please.
- Judging will take place on the court house square at 2:00 pm.
- First, second, and third prizes will be awarded.
- Please bring a knife and pie server with your pie.
